Asteroid and Comet as small bodies

Asteroid is a metal or stone celestial body. Diameter is greater than one meter up to 1.000 kilometers. Some of them, individually or in groups of similar body, moves around the Sun. Most of them goes around the Sun in the main Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Part of Asteroid approaches the Sun closer than Mars and Earth. In the orbit of Jupiter or other Planets is also part of the movement. Many are usually irregularly shaped and smaller than the Planet.

They are formed from the remnants of the protoplanetary material. That material has not merged with Planets during the creation of the Solar System from the protoplanetary disk. Most often circling the Sun on their own path or as Moons of larger Planets. Some of them are bound by gravity forces with the Planets, in groups orbiting the Planet's orbit. They may be divided on carbon (about 75%, include dark carbon compounds), metal (about 8%) and silicate (about 17%).

Asteroid and Comet as small celestial body

Comet is permanent celestial body in the Solar System. Comet have are highly elongated paths. They can intersect ecliptic level at any angle and are located in an elliptical orbit around the Sun. Main body is the core. Core is made of loose formations of frozen substances, ice with dust. Coma is developed around the core, which together with the core makes Comet head and tail of it. Diameter of some core is from one to twenty kilometers. It consists of rare gases and dust.

It is elongated or the spherical shape and sometimes shows layers. It occurs when the Sun warm enough core. From core is then released gas sublimation frozen substances, carrying with it the powder particles. Coma is actually an atmosphere. In it the action of solar radiation leads to dissociation of molecules and to ionization decay products. So, because of impulse they're are bright. Due to the impact of solar wind and magnetic field, gases of coma whom depart from the Sun is about 1 km/s and they shape tail. It's flat and bright bluish.

At a distance from the core, the dust particles floating freely. Depending on their mass they moving in a field of Sun gravity. Thus occurs a yellowish curved dust tail that repels sunlight. They come from the coldest and most remote regions of the Solar System. There have been rejected by gravity of giant Planets when the Solar System have early stages of development. Most of them came from the Oort Cloud, ice spherical areas on the edge of the Solar System. They consist of silica dust and frozen gases in the form of various types of ice (frost) that form a porous core.

Sun impact on Comet

When their path starts closer to the Sun, due to rising temperatures, ice and frozen particles begin to evaporate. That is creating a cloud of gas around the Comet. We call it coma. Due to the pressure of the solar wind and radiation, coma and body during decomposition converted into characteristic tails that are visible in the sky. Direction of gaseous tail is in the opposite direction of the Sun. The tail consists of dust particles. Slightly wider and sluggish in movement. The tail can be millions of kilometers long.
